A Scandal Every Week...

What has gotten into the minds of potential (not anymore) presidential candidates for the Republican Party in 2012? First John Ensign, Senator from Nevada, and now Mark Sanford, Governor of South Carolina. Unbelievable. Now, many Republicans (especially those of the libertarian wing) do not find the personal lives of our elected officials as pertinent to their actual competency in office, but I am certainly not from that strain of thought. Public servants should be faithful to the people and to their families; they have made commitments to both. Fidelity is a reflection of moral character, and regardless of how honest they were about their cheating behavior (some conservatives tried to find a bright spot after the Sanford announcement), these men should step down from their positions of leadership. Perhaps a bit radical, but they are definitely out of the running in my book for any future office. What a shame.

And now people are joking that we will have Mitt Romney as our nominee by default. Also undesirable (see 2008 Presidential Election).
